Cleaning Methods

Cleaning Techniques & Equipment

Using the right technique with the right tool makes a big difference in efficiency and results. This module walks you through the basics of professional cleaning methods.

The High-to-Low, Furthest to Exit Method

Always clean from the High-to-Low, and furthest to exit. This ensures that dust and debris fall to lower surfaces that have not yet been cleaned, and ensure you’ve covered all ground.

EXAMPLE

Correct Order: Dust ceiling fans and light fixtures → Wipe down shelves and surfaces → Clean countertops and furniture → Sanitize sinks and fixtures → Sweep or vacuum floors → Mop floors last from furthest area to the exit.

Personal Hygiene

Cleaning is a physically active job. Maintaining good personal hygiene shows professionalism and respect for our clients.

MEN

Keep facial hair clean

Comfortable, loose clothing preferred

If long hair, please ensure hair is tied or hats are worn during shifts

WOMEN

Hair is combed, neat, and tied back or secured to prevent loose hair, or hats are worn during shifts

Avoid strong perfumes for client sensitivities

Keep fingernails trimmed — long nails can tear through gloves and be difficult to use.

You can be great
